What We Do > Preservation Programs

The San Antonio Conservation Society offers various programs designed to support preservation and rehabilitation projects. We host annual an annual Preservation Awards event, operate two historic house museums available for tours, facilitate building grants once a year for restoration of historic structures, and more!

Historic Preservation Awards

Every other year, we hold a Historic Preservation Awards event. The Texas Preservation Hero, Amanda Cartwright Taylor, and Lynn Ford Craftsman Awards honor those who have reached the highest level of accomplishment in historic preservation.  Our  Building Awards recognize the quality of preservation work achieved in the built environment.

Historical Markers

The Society has placed historical markers on properties that it owns, or has otherwise played a key role in saving over the years. The Society has also partnered with public and private agencies to mark and interpret important historic locations throughout San Antonio and Bexar County.  In addition, there are other types of markers to identify sites with historic significance at the local, state, and national level.
