The Society is joining with the Alamo Trust, Inc. to ask City Council NOT to approve amusement/theme park zoning for 902 E. Houston Street, just two blocks east of the Alamo. While the 200-foot high Ferris wheel proposed for this location may meet the letter of the law regarding the Alamo viewshed (cannot be seen from a certain point on the ground in front of the Alamo church), it will clearly be visible from the upper floors of the new Alamo museum and other locations in the World Heritage Alamo site. This is neither the environment nor the experience the City and State have been working hard to create for visitors to Alamo Plaza.
