Historic Design and Review Commission (HDRC)- October 16, 2019

We continue to support Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) staff recommendations for windows.  Two recurring issues are:

  1. the replacement of historic windows that could be repaired, and
  2. the use of modern window styles, or placement patterns, incompatible with a historic neighborhood.

In response to four cases seeking inappropriate window replacements, we spoke at Citizens To Be Heard encouraging ongoing public education about window repair vs. replacement.  We also delivered a statement on the infill construction proposed for 434 Sherman.  The pattern of window placement, as well as the scale, of this project needs revision to make it architecturally compatible with its neighbors in Dignowity Hill.
