Society Honored by San Antonio Branch NAACP

NAACP Honoree award plaque presented to the Conservation Society

The Conservation Society of San Antonio is proud to be one of three honorees during the 71st Freedom Fund Celebration of the San Antonio Branch NAACP on October 22, 2021.  We are deeply grateful to the NAACP for this recognition.

This award is presented to the Society for its “extensive research and commitment for saving the Woolworth Building.”

The stalwart support of the San Antonio Branch NAACP and other Coalition for the Woolworth Building partners kept us moving forward, year after year, in a shared quest to save the Woolworth Building, an irreplaceable Civil Rights landmark on Alamo Plaza.

The Coalition for the Woolworth Building is: the San Antonio Branch NAACP, San Antonio African American Community Archive and Museum, Esperanza Peace and Justice Center, Westside Preservation Alliance, San Antonio for Growth on the East Side, Mexican American Civil Rights Institute, and The Conservation Society of San Antonio, plus many other dedicated individuals, including: Thelma Andrews, Everett Fly,  Maria Greene, Nettie Hinton, and Aaronetta Pierce.
