The Hertzberg Clock is a beloved downtown landmark at the corner of Houston and St. Mary’s Streets. Originally installed in 1878 and later relocated to its current site in 1910, it long served as a cherished meeting place and a symbol of San Antonio’s historic character. In 1982, the Goodman family donated the clock to the Conservation Society.

The clock’s exterior was restored in 2019 by conservator Chris King, and in 2026, the Society engaged clock restorer Benny Courtney to fabricate new working parts so that the clock would once again tell time.  Its recent restoration reflects a continuing commitment to preserving the city’s architectural and cultural heritage for future generations.
