Event Details

The Conservation Society of San Antonio has nominated the Texas Pavilion/Institute of Texan Cultures (ITC) building to the National Register of Historic Places. Our nomination will be heard by the Texas Historical Commission State Board of Review on Saturday, January 13, 2024, in Galveston.  Both UTSA and the City of San Antonio plan to oppose the nomination.  Click here to find out how to send a comment in support!

SENDOFF CONFIRMATION – We are rallying to send our speakers to the State Board of Review meeting in Galveston with a visible show of support.  Please join us this Friday, January 12th, at 11:50 AM in the parking lot in front of the Institute of Texan Cultures Building at 801 E. Cesar Chavez Blvd. Enter off Cesar Chavez for Tower parking and turn right before the parking booth.  Free, onsite parking is limited but paid lots are available nearby.

Homemade signs showing support for our designation are welcome, but positive messages only, please!

The Texas Pavilion is one of HemisFair ‘68’s largest and most distinctive original buildings. Built as a permanent structure by the State of Texas, it has served as a museum of diverse Texan cultures for over 50 years. It meets National Register criteria for both historic and architectural significance.  Both UTSA and the City of San Antonio plan to oppose the nomination.
