“The Discovery of the Probable First Site of Mission San Antonio de Valero.”
Guest Speaker: Kay Hindes

River House behind the Steves
509 King William, San Antonio, 78204

In 2013, former City Archaeologist Kay Hindes located an archaeological site on property owned by the Christopher Columbus Italian Society. The first site of Mission San Antonio de Valero (The Alamo) was founded on San Pedro Creek in 1718 by Father Olivares in association with the Alarcon Expedition. Archival research, topographical data, and archaeological investigations support that the Christopher Columbus Italian Society property may well be the 1718 site of the former Mission.
