Is it art or is it advertising, and is it even necessary? Your input and involvement are crucial to the creation (or not) of a pilot program for Digital Media and Arts here in San Antonio.
The Development Services Department, in partnership with the Department of Arts and Culture and the Office of Historic Preservation, was tasked by the Planning and Community Development Committee to review a proposal presented to the City by Outfront Media and Urban Activation Institute.
At public meetings on Sept 11 and 12, Development Services will discuss proposals for this program, gather your comments, and then present them to the City Council’s Planning and Community Development Committee. Meetings are being held at:
1901 S. Alamo
Wednesday, Sept. 11 – 3:00 p.m. (Training Rm. B)
Thursday, Sept. 12 – 6:00 p.m. (Boardroom)
Please attend if you can. The City has yet to run a pilot program for digital signage that hasn’t resulted in more visual clutter in our historic downtown. Concerned about the environmental impact of digital signage on energy consumption? Read this.
