San Antonio Conservation Society Announcement

Tuesday, January 23, 2018

The San Antonio Conservation Society held a press conference on the banks of the San Antonio River, facing historic Pump House No. 1 in Brackenridge Park (near the Joske Pavilion and Brackenridge Park Conservancy headquarters).

As our gift to the city for its Tricentennial SA300 celebration, we announced a significant contribution for the preservation of the Pump House, the oldest intact industrial structure (1877) in the city, if not the state. The City Council approved our donation on Thursday, January 18, 2018.  See additional coverage in the Rivard Report, the Express-News, and KSAT-12.

Board members from both the Society and the Brackenridge Park Conservancy were on hand as Society President Susan Beavin presented the gift check to City Parks and Recreation Director, Xavier Urrutia.
