Thursday, Feb 4th, from 4 to 5:30 PM – Support preserving the foundations of the St. James AME Church

You are invited to share your thoughts on what should happen with the 1875 foundations of St. James AME Church at a virtual meeting.  Click here for information on how to attend and/or send written comments to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  A second virtual meeting is scheduled for Tues, Feb 16th.  The deadline for written comments is Monday, March 8th.

This rare archaeological site was discovered during construction for the San Pedro Creek Culture Park project this summer.  The church’s foundations provide an opportunity to connect to an important piece of African American history on the Westside. Learn more.

We encourage changing the design of the San Pedro Creek Culture Park between the creek and Camaron Street to preserve the building’s entire footprint.
