The State of Preservation in San Antonio will present a snapshot at the issues and challenges facing the conservation of our cultural, natural and architectural heritage. In addition to longstanding issues of demolition and infill in and around historic districts, today San Antonians are looking closer at issues like living heritage, the loss of historic neighborhoods like Laredito, the development of our World Heritage Missions, and new city programs like deconstruction and trades training. Professor Michael will also discuss the recent successes at Alamo Plaza and the ongoing efforts to recover underrepresented narratives of local history and culture.
