Subject: Historic Farm & Ranch Seminar II
Date: December 14, 2006
On Saturday, February 10, 2007, the San
Antonio Conservation Society will present a teacher seminar on Historic
Farm and Ranch properties located in South Bexar County. The seminar
will draw attention to buildings that are in danger of being lost to
history. These structures were the first phase of settlements outside
the City of San Antonio and the dates vary from 1718 to the 1890’s.
The seminar will meet at the River House,
509 King William, behind the Steves Homestead, at 8:45 a.m. and will
tour during the afternoon and return to the River House by 3 p.m. The
seminar, lunch and tour are offered at no cost to participants. A
certificate of attendance will be awarded to all attendees.
San Antonio teacher/consultant, Bill
Perryman has developed a unit model showcasing historic farm and ranch
properties in the South Bexar County area. Emphasizing community based
experiences as a teaching tool, the lesson model is correlated with 7th
grade TEKS and applicable to that grade level for instructional use.
Some lesson activities will be demonstrated during the seminar.
