Scholarships
ELEANOR FREEBORN BENNETT EDUCATIONAL FUND
Purpose
The Board of Directors of the San Antonio Conservation Society
Foundation has established the Eleanor Freeborn Bennett Educational
Fund in memory of Eleanor Freeborn Bennett, who served as president
of the Society from 1953 to 1955.
The intent of the Fund is to further support the goals of the
Foundation, particularly in the area of educating others about the
importance of preservation.
Eleanor Bennett’s husband, Maj. Gen. John M. Bennett, and their
children, Eleanor Marlow, Carolyn Wood, Davis Bennett and John
Bennett, have endowed the Fund to perpetuate Eleanor’s ideals.
APPLICATIONS IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS WILL BE CONSIDERED
I. The education of specified individuals and/or non-profit groups
through participation in various seminars, conferences and
internships which would distribute and discern relevant information
in the field of preservation and restoration as pertinent to the
Foundation’s purpose, i.e., American Preservation Technologist.
II. The education of artisans, craftsmen, tradesmen or apprentices
in unique or near-extinct skills which would be of use and benefit
in preservation and restoration, i.e., fresco stabilization, Rome
Center apprenticeship, adobe brickmaking.
III. The sponsorship of seminars, publications, training, research,
documentation or visual arts to further the goals of preservation or
to create a catalyst for the better understanding of preservation
and restoration through education.
IV. The education of worthy students in the form of grants or
scholarships that are concentrated in the area of historic
preservation and restoration. |
