Historic Places - August C. Stuemke Barn
Moved from 215 N. Flores to the grounds of 107 King William

In 1982, the Society acquired the endangered Stuemke Barn from Frost Bank, which owned the barn and the land it was built on at 215 North Flores Street. The bank also provided a donation to finance the move of the mid-nineteenth century barn to the Wulff House grounds. Curtis Hunt Jr., a master stonemason, dismantled the two-story, native limestone structure, numbering and photographing each stone to insure that the barn would be reconstructed accurately. Today, the Stuemke Barn provides the Society with additional meeting and working space.
