Events - Historic Preservation Awards


The purpose of the Historic Preservation Awards is to honor those who have reached the highest level of accomplishment in historic preservation and to recognize the quality of preservation of the built environment.

Historic Preservation Awards 2008

The San Antonio Conservation Society congratulates the winners of the 2008 Historic Preservation Awards:

  • Alamo National Bank / Drury Plaza Hotel, 105. S. St. Mary’s - Mr. Rick Drury, Drury Southwest, Inc. Project architect: David R. Alberson, AIA.
     
  • Clemens Freidell House, 327 E. Lullwood - Douglas Dowd, Lia Dowd, Michael Shipley. Project architect: Charles Schubert, AIA.
     
  • Gennero / Pedrotti Bros. Building, 1802 and 1804 S. St. Mary’s - Darryl Ohlenbusch (1802) and Scott Sanders (1804). Project architect: Darryl R. Ohlenbusch, AIA.
     
  • Holt-Sherouse House, 724 N. Olive - Betty and Byron Sherouse.
     
  • Lone-Star Ice / Mission Restaurant Supply, 1126 S. St. Mary’s - Jack Lewis, Mission Restaurant Supply. Project architect: Jim Poteet, Poteet Architects
     
  • Pearl Stable, 312 Pearl Parkway - Silver Ventures, LP (Christopher Goldsbury). Project architect: Chris Carson, FAIA.
     
  • San Pedro Park Branch Library, 1315 San Pedro Avenue - City of San Antonio (Ramiro Salazar, Director, San Antonio Public Library). Project architect: Kinnison and Associates, Architects (Paul Kinnison, Jr., FAIA).
     
  • Shafer-Golden House, 406 Patterson Ave. - Claire Golden. Project architect: Don B. McDonald, AIA.
     
  • Simpson House, 107 W. Agarita. Project architect: Don B. McDonald, AIA.
     
  • Maverick County Courthouse, 500 Main Street, Eagle Pass, Texas - Maverick County (County Judge José A. Aranda, Jr.).

The Conservation Society also honors the following individuals as Texas Preservation Heroes:

  • Michael Bailey and Burnie Cloud of Bradley Middle School for the Mill Springs
    Cabin Texas History Project.
