Heritage Education Tours
Each year SACS sponsors an annual tour of historical sites. Approximately 2,600
fourth grade students from twenty-nine schools participate in bus tours during November.
Preparatory information is provided to the students prior to their trip. The Society
furnishes transportation and admission to various historical locations, which includes;
The Steves Homestead, Yturri-Edmunds Historic Site, Spanish Governor's Palace, Casa
Navarro State Historical Site, and the Spanish Missions. In preparation for the
tours, SACS volunteers participate in a tour training workshop and teachers attend
an in service training followed by a tour of downtown.
Historic Community Tours
The main focus is education about the historic and cultural heritage through out
Texas. Participants, Society members, enjoy fellowship and the opportunity to travel
and experience history in all parts of Texas.

- Galveston
- Goliad (to view historic sites and homes that had received grant funding from our
grant committee)
- Austin, The Story of Texas, The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum
- Historic West Texas, The main focus is education about the historic and cultural
heritage thought out Texas. Participants, Society members, enjoy fellowship and
the opportunity to travel and experience history in all parts of Texas.
Heritage Education Seminar
The San Antonio Conservation Society offers an annual seminar for secondary school
teachers to educate and promote preservation so that they in turn will pass this
vital information onto our youth. The day varies from guest lecturers, educators,
or tours. Please contact The Society if your school is interested in participating.
